SET UP A MEETING
Set up a meeting with a New Hope caseworker. The advocate can meet you at your home or another place in your community, whatever works best for you.
MEET WITH YOUR NEW HOPE ADVOCATE
The advocate will spend time getting to know you, your situation, and will explain your options. They will provide you with more detailed information about adoption and will help you process your choices. It is important to note that just because you meet with an advocate, it does not mean you must choose to make an adoption plan for your child.

KEEP IN TOUCH
Continue to remain in contact with your advocate as you are in the process making this decision.
MAKE A DECISION
If you choose to parent, your advocate will get you connected to local parenting resources. If you choose to make an adoption plan, you can talk to your advocate about what you would like in an adoptive family for your child and discuss your preferences.

MATCHING
If you so choose, you can select the adoptive family for your child. You can learn about the families that match your preferences and make your selection. If you would rather not be involved in the selection process, the agency can choose one for you based on your preferences.
CREATE A BIRTH PLAN
Work with your advocate to create a birth plan, which includes what hospital you will deliver at, who you would like to be present for the birth, etc.

MEET THE ADOPTIVE FAMILY
If you would like, you have the option to meet the adoptive family prior to the adoption taking place. Your advocate will coordinate this for you.
SIGN THE PAPERWORK
Adoption paperwork will be signed. This is called a Surrender. Your advocate as well as an attorney will be present to help explain the forms you will sign. Please note that the baby must be born for this step to occur.
